Casa Obelisco was built to be both our dream home and a truly memorable bed and breakfast
(B & B), and has been designed with ultimate care to beauty, privacy and comfort. All of the windows and doors are hand made of perrota wood, the Mexican equivalent of Mahogany. Each of the rooms has a
private bath tiled in soothing blues or greens from the Ceramico
San Pedro, a renowned manufacturer of rustic and artistic tile; all of the floors also. The baths are large and luxurious with double hand painted sinks and accessories and private commodes. The beds have the best quality of mattresses and linens and are extremely comfortable and come with mosquito nets (for those times of year when it feels like the tropics-or you just feel adventurous) and hand loomed Mexican cotton spreads. We've decorated each room with a theme and had furniture hand carved to reflect that theme. We've also shopped extensively for Mexican glass and pottery to add special touches to each space. A local painter has done paintings for most of the rooms. While the rooms all have a private deck, there are also lots of cozy corners built into the design of the house and gardens for private conversations or just to get away with a good book and a hammock.. While we love to leave all of our windows and doors open to the sound of crashing waves, the rooms are all air conditioned for those who enjoy it. The ceilings are tall and graceful: the house is full of gentle ocean breezes ... assisted when needed by 28 ceiling fans!
Guest Suites: all have a glimpse of ocean view, pool and garden views and extensive Mexican art glass and Talavera pottery, mosquito nets for romance and air conditioning for comfort. Each is my favorite for a different reason:
Vista Bellina is named for it's great ocean view, which
offers the potential for Whale Watching; during most of the winter the
whales frolic in the bay in front of the Casa, and year round they swim in
a pattern around the bath. There is a king sized bed, and a single bed/sofa done in cobalt blue and white with a table and chairs on the deck and a huge, luxurious bath. Hide under the mosquito nets and think of games to play!
Here is the view from Vista Bellina:
Las Conchas is named for the seashell; its universal appeal and the feeling of sea life you get when you're so near to the ocean. It's done in pale luminescent green and has a very large private deck with hammock and two chaise lounges. It overlooks the grounds and then the ocean. You will find a small pile of glass shells and can add to our collection of miniature shells as you beach comb on walks into town. Even hiding under the mosquito net in your king bed, the ocean will lull you to sleep, or whatever.

Las Flores is named for the lush gardens throughout the property and
right below it's balustrade and for the floral painted sinks in the blue bath. It has a view over the pool, through the flowers, to the ocean. It has a king sized bed, and a very large deck with hammock and two chaise lounges. When you arrive there will be a floral arrangement on your bed made from hot pink bougainvillea flowers ... you can sleep in them and have very sweet dreams!

La Jungla, so named because it is dark primal green and has an
incredible banana tree, hibiscus and palms right outside. A private path
winds down to the pool from your patio with table and chairs. This room
has a king bed and a built in single/sofa all done in shades of green and a huge shower for two. It's very cool on a hot day; I always feel a little wild in the Jungle room!
La Jungla suite: Also on the first floor are the laundry room, the pool bath, a small store, and a reading area with book exchange. The Roof
top lounge area:
The roof is the perfect place to watch our magnificent Mexican sunsets ...
a daily custom. We have built in seating all along the edge with
bougainvillea interspersed. Tables and chairs are available for your
complimentary margarita at sunset, or to have a candlelight dinner under
the stars (ask us to arrange a dinner under the stars for your visit.). The
view is totally unobstructed and you will remember the sunsets long after
you leave!

Outdoors:There is a large private pool with swim up bar,
including bar stools in the pool and the famous Hibiscus mosaic which the
house is named after; it is truly tropical and inviting. The recessed pool
bar, El Chango Barracho ... named for the jungle mural painted on the wall
... the painters included an inebriated Monkey in the jungle scene and in a typical San Pancho case of
serendipity it became the name of the bar). The bar is recessed below ground under
a large, breezy palapa. This is the perfect place to stay cool with a
cocktail or a cold drink during the hottest part of the day. There is a CD
player available here, and we have games to play. There is a gas grill and
a refrigerator available to guests in the pool bar. There are two
sunbathing areas around the pool. We have a bartender on staff to make
pool side drinks and snacks at the swim-up bar. Everywhere you look on the property are
flowers, palm trees and fruit trees ... in the middle of a palm grove is
the outdoor shower. At some times of the year you can pick bananas for
breakfast or limes for your margarita. At the main entrance to the house
is a cool sitting area by a bubbling fountain, surrounded by flowers.
Special note: There are cats and a dog living on the property, so please take note if you have an allergy to pets. They are non-obtrusive animals, and will not be a bother to you (unless you want to visit with them).
For this reason, our policy is no "additional" pets allowed . |
